Council To Consider Eminent Domain
City Council will decide next Tuesday whether to use the power of eminent domain to get enough land to create a dedicated right turn lane off eastbound Pacific Coast Highway onto Second Street. The hearing is scheduled as the third item on the council’s agenda Tuesday. According to the staff report provided by the Development Services and Public Works departments, the city has been trying since January to purchase the property, which consists of the sidewalk and some landscaping on the border of the parcel where City National Bank is located.
