Homeless people on streets cost Long Beach more than finding housing
In two years on the streets of Long Beach, an unidentified formerly homeless man cost taxpayers about $70,000 in services, hospitalizations and police contact, including a 90-day stay in jail. In two years since the man was placed in permanent supportive housing, the community has saved $44,000.
